Maria Pithara works primarily in video and sculpture. After being awarded a Fulbright scholarship, she traveled from Cyprus to the U.S. to study sculpture. She earned her MFA from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2009. Her work has been included in exhibitions and screening across the U.S. and Europe, at venues including the Hirschhorn Museum in Washington D.C., Bow Arts in London and Omikron Gallery in Cyprus. She has been awarded a residency fellowship at Seen Below Arts Initiative and at the Santa Fe Art Institute.
